About 80/20 Recycling

80/20 Recycling is a grass-roots, community-led Social Enterprise,
run by and for the people of Newry & Mourne.

The idea for the project originated through local Business in the Community’s links with Newry & Mourne’s Community Development department.  A steering group of local community groups/residents, businesses, healthcare providers and recyclers was brought together and 80/20 Recycling was born.

General Manager, Beni Benstead has 16 years relevant experience in community furniture re-use and had a senior role with a major national High Street charity.  She has been a director of the national Furniture Reuse Network (FRN) and, in her spare time, taught a certificated Waste Awareness course to local communities.

Operations Manager, Liam O'Sullivan developed an abundance of wood working and training experience in the building trade and, in his spare time, has worked with people with a variety of support needs within his own community.

They are supported and directed by a diverse Board, comprising members of the local community (including people from Neighbourhood Renewal areas), Business in the Community, Department of Social Development (Neighbourhood Renewal), Newry & Mourne District Council, Southern Trust (Healthcare & Community Development), Newry & Mourne Enterprise Agency and local businesses.
